Maria Luigia Gioffrè (b.1990) based in London.

My practice focuses on narration as tool for production of imaginative conditions to convey knowledge about personal or universal history. The work introduces a non-representational language which builds up its scenarios from the lack of linearity: I look at traced signs from gestures as performative instruments of the absence.
The interplay of traces and time sets performance not only as live practice but also as a practice of archive and memory which I explore through multiple media. I use repetition as a poetic of prayer of the desiring body and I try to embody endurance into images, traces and body itself.
