Drawing on Baudrillard’s notion of the simulacrum and on Roland Barthes’s semiotic understanding of photography, the work positions the screenshot - namely the photographic capture of a smartphone screen - as a visual product to which one can attribute both the ontology of the simulacrum and that of photography, or, more precisely, that of a simulacrum of the photographic image.

Beginning from this expanded framing of the notion of photography, the work acts as a photographic and poetic-visual operation by extracting—through the WhatsApp Messenger app’s search engine—the word “amore”(“love”) within everyday conversations, underlying dramaturgies that emerge when the word becomes highly mobile within syntactic structures, differing for each intended interlocutor.
